More North Carolinians to travel during the holidays

With the price of gasoline fell 64 cents per gallon since peaking in the State on May 6, about 2.4 million North Carolinians expected to drive during the holiday, AAA Carolinas reported Tuesday.

On the whole trip in North Carolina should be increased by 3.6 per cent of the 2.6 million people from Friday until January 2, compared with the same period last year. They are travelers, 6 per cent and 2 per cent will be flying will travel by other means.

“The decline in gasoline prices, higher air fares and fewer flights available on the smaller aircraft, and slowly improving economy means more people will travel (by car) to visit family, friends and holiday destinations,” said David e. Parsons, President and chief executive of AAA Carolinas.

North Carolina drivers can expect to find the cheapest petrol in high point at $ 3.15 per gallon and the most expensive gas at $ 3.31 in Boone.
